My last day with Mom...

Today with my Mom was awesome. She got to go home for the day to your own house so we went over and had a visit. Before we went there Jim, Leslie, Tralee, and I went to Mom's work and visited with her co-workers. They were making her a quilt today as part of a fundraiser on Mom's behalf.
When we went to go see Mom she was sleeping so we let her rest and just hung out for a bit. She woke up and Jim and I took her for a walk around her yard. She remembered that they used to have cows and that they killed them because they kept getting out of the yard. She recognized her grape vines and her apple trees. She was so relaxed and comfortable.
She watched Tralee dance around the living room and even sang along with us as we sang songs that Tralee knew. She smiled a lot today so in turn we all smiled a lot today.
The hardest part was saying goodbye. Both times I have seen Mom since her accident I didn't cry until I had to say goodbye. I know I will see her again, thats not the issue, I just don't like being so far away and feeling so helpless.
This week has been awesome but tomorrow I get to see my husband again and I am SOOO excited. I am also taking home a new addition to our family. I am taking home a puppy with me. We already have a chocolate lab that is about six months old but now I am bringing home a mutt that is only two months. It is a Border Collie/Labrador on its moms side and a Great Dane/English Mastiff on its fathers side. Its so cute and its going to be a handful but I just couldnt resist!!
Until Next time....

What an awesome day!

Oh man today was good!

I spent the day at the hospital with my Mom and she was hilarious! you can read all the stories on her blog, prayersfortrish.blogspot.com

She is really coming around and they are not using as much medication which is awesome because now we are seeing how she would be just coming back to normal. She still slurs her words a bit and makes up words when she can't remember what word goes where but for the most part she is doing awesome. She gets to go to her house on Saturday for the day and she has been dying to get out of that hospital so we are hoping that will be a positive experience for her.

I'm staying in Meridian at my Aunt Michelle's house with my brother Jim and his wife Leslie because Michelle and Roman have gone to Hawaii and they are staying with their kids, so I am too! These kids are so much fun. I also got to spend time with my sister Joni this week and I'm glad because I don't get to see her often. I hope she starts feeling better soon!

I'll probably write again and tell you how the rest of my week with my Mom goes!

Until next time.....

Boise, Idaho Day one

Hello everyone,
I flew out of Calgary yesterday (Sunday the 1st) and had an awesome experience in the Calgary airport. I was just sitting there waiting at my gate and I looked up and saw this guy that looked really familiar. I looked a little harder and realized that it was Jarome Iginla from the Calgary Flames and that he was talking to his teammate and goal tender Mikha Kiprusoff!! I sat up in my chair and said Hey! and looked around to see if anyone else noticed but nobody moved, no on even flinched! I was in so much shock that I didn't even get up to ask them for an autograph or anything. Then following them not to long after was the rest of the Calgary Flames team all going to get on a plane!! It was really exciting. But, now I am kicking myself because I had my camera right there in my coat pocket and I didn't even stop them for a picture or anything!! Oh well, next time right?! (yeah right)

I arrived in Boise and went to my cousin Jared's house where they were watching the superbowl and visiting. Before the game was done my sister Joni and I went to the hospital so I could see my mom. We were met by Jeff and he showed us into moms room where she immediately said, "The girls are here!" I showed her the wedding pictures of mine that I had brought for her and she said to me, "you love that skinny guy?" I laughed and assured her I did. :)
We spent quite a few hours with her and had a pleasant visit. She made us laugh and it was good to see her. We had a good talk with the nurses to get caught up and made aware of how she had been doing and that calmed a lot of the reservations that I had.

I stayed at Jim and Leslie's house (my brother and sister in law) and we stayed up for a while watching Tralee and laughing at her a little bit. It was fun. Leslie made us breakfast this morning and Joni and I got ready and went to visit our Aunt Michelle before going to the hospital to see Mom.

Mom was awake when we got there and Aunt Nona was sitting with her. She gabbed at us a lot and made us laugh. She took a little nap and then was ready to walk a bit and find a way out of the hospital. We distracted her from that. She made a joke today and laughed at herself like she was really funny... it was SOO good to see her smile. It made my whole day.

You can read about my moms accident and how she is doing everyday at prayersfortrish.blogspot.com

Now, Jeff (my stepdad) Jim, Leslie, Joni, Tralee, and I are going to have dinner and enjoy a night in.

Until next time.
