Catch up

I am playing blog catch up. I have caught up until Christmas time and will do the rest soon. January was so fun with Zayah's first birthday and Chase's birthday and me going back to work. And February was good to us as well! We are doing well and hopefully I will catch up on the rest of the blogs this weekend!!

PLease go read the ones I've written and enjoy!!!

December: 3 years and Christmas with our baby girl!

December started off with me leaving Z for the first time overnight. I went to Vegas for my half marathon(see next post) and I left her with Chase for his weekend off. 4 days away from my baby girl when she was10 months. I was super worried but all in all it was so good. Chase was super excited and is convinced that he should be a stay at home Dad. :)

I missed her really bad one of the nights but Chase sent me pictures and videos and I was so busy with family that it all worked out.

December 18th is our Anniversary. We had plans with some friends to go up to Calgary and see the Zoo Christmas lights with our babies! So we got a hotel and during the day we swam.

The pool was a little too cold for the babies liking but we still managed to have fun.

Chase and Kenny have been best friends since like grade 9 or 10 or something like that. And they both had babies 7 weeks from each other. These are them with their baby girls!

Chase and Z on the waterslides!

Playing in the water with our baby girl!

Z and I watersliding!

Bathing the babes after the pool... cuties if you ask me!

We got ready and went to dinner. After dinner we headed out to the Zoo!!

All bundled up at the zoo looking at all the Christmas Lights at the Zoo!

The tunnel of love! :)

Z and I, Jessica and Taylor, and Mandy and Coadee. Girlfriends and their babies.

After we were done at the zoo we sent Zayah with Mandy(she lives just outside Calgary) and she went for a sleepover so Chase and I could have a night away for our Anniversary! We went for drinks, we gambled a little, and basically just relaxed alone together. it was good.

3 years of marriage.. and I still kinda like hime... ;)

Zayah's first Christmas was coming up fast but Chase and I were very prepared! We bought her presents in November and split them ujp so we could give half of them at Christmas and half of them at her birthday.

We got her first picture with Santa! She didn't cry at all!

We got her a 'Baby's first Christmas' stocking with her name on it.

And on Christmas Eve we put out all her stocking and Santa gifts. I was so excited I may have went a little overboard with the gifts but that's what Moms are for right?!

Christmas morning!!!! So happy!!! we had Christmas breakfast and then dug in on the presents!!!!

Dad still makes us all line up on the stairs for pictures like we are anxiously awaiting to get to our presents! And if we're being honest we all were anxious, we are still little kids at heart. :)

Seeing her toys from SANTA!!!!

Her first little car!!!

Helping her get through her stocking...

Grandpa playing with her toys with her...

Aunty Chan and Zayah being silly girls!

Aunty Nikki helping her open her present she got her!

Grandma opening some presents with Z too!

Zayah's first Christmas Loot!!!!

There was some drama on the morning of Christmas Eve but I decided not to post pics. People at my Dads house woke up with water flooding their basement. We got called over to come help and we were ripping up carpet and hauling out wet underlay, using wet dry vacs to suck up the water, Dad and Chase were fixing the pump. It was a mess. So we moved Christmas upstairs and it all worked out it just put a little damper on our holidays, just for a few hours. We showerede, got ready, and moved on with our Christmas Eve festivities.

Christmas with Zayah was so fun! I can't wait to do that every year!

My First Half Marathon!!

Ok so if we are being honest, I could have trained harder. I look back and wish I would have run more, ran for longer, pushed myself harder. The adrenaline and excitement of being there doing it clouded my judgement to actually train hard.
I will do another one of these in my life and I will be better prepared. It was amazing.

We checked in at registration and I found my name on the list.....

The only Bevans...

We stayed with John and Cassi and I brought a white shirt so I could decorate it to my hearts content. Want some more honesty? John did most of it. He had all this paint already and made the stencil and I just had ideas, John had execution.

THis is my racing buddy... She did awesome!! She ran in front of me and could have got a better time but she came back and got me and dragged me across the finish line. We both cried somehwere along the way, we encouraged each other at different times. We pushed each other. It was amazing.

Waiting at our corrall!

We are ready to go!!

That red blur with her arms up and that white blur with her arms up is Channing and I! My Dad, John, and Joni were all waiting up at mile 1 so meet us in our travels! It was so awesome!

Loved seeing them but it was mile one! We couldn't stop!

A picture of the crowd. It was insane! 66,000 runners between half and full marathon. For the first 5 miles Chan and I were zig zagging through the crowd. She stayed a step ahead and pushed through and I followed her and squeezed through as well. We both had to pee at the beginning of the race but the lines were so long and we were so excited we just waited. Well we did not find short enough lines to stop and pee at until mile 8 on the way back down the strip!!

Chan and I trained in a way where we knew we would walk when we needed to. We would try our hardest to go for as long as we could and walk for short periods when need be.

We did not stop for a walk/water break until mile 5!! We almost stopped at 4.5 miles but I thought we are so close let's just push through and get to mile 5! And we did! We walked briskly, drank water, and took some Goo. Goo on pretty much empty stomachs was awful. By mile 8-9 we were starving and it was so tempting to stop at Denny's you would not believe!!
Keep in mind we were running up and down the Vegas strip and temptation was everywhere! haha.. ok so we never really would have stopped but we were hungry.

Picture stop at the 10 mile marker!! 3 more to go!!

I was dead at this point. Mile 8-9 were my breaking point. I was getting seized up so I was jogging but it was the slowest jog on earth. It actually felt better to jog then walk because walking reminded me of all, of my muscles that were tired and sore and seizing up. So my slow jog was basically Channings fast walk pace, so we did that for a while.

This was toward the end... like 1 or 1.5 miles to go..

I look thrilled eh?! hahaha

I was so ready to be at the finish line! Like I said at the beginning, my training needs to step it up before the next one!

Pushing through the pain!

THE FINISH LINE!!!!

Channing held my hand across the finish line and we did it!!!

We stopped a took a quick picture, got our medal and headed for the food!! hahaha.. we grabbed everything they were offering to carb back up. Bagels, pretzels, power bars, and tons of water!

See, this is us stuffing our faces... :)

HALF MARATHONERS!!!!

Our family at the end!!

I limped back to the car. The walk to the car was brutal. And then we jumped in a car and drove back to Canada that night. 16 hours. Everytime we stopped at a gas station and Chan and I walked in we were limping like we were 90. We could barely move our legs frm the gas to the break when it was our turn to drive. hahaha.... getting in the car right after was not the best but we had to get home.

It was an amazing first time. There are things I would do different, maybe a different location even. But no one will ever take those memories from my first half marathon from me.

Thanks for being my running buddy Chan!!

November

Our November was super exciting and sad at the same time. Zayah took her first steps in November(9 and a half months) and was excited about it for about a week!!

I just threw this pic from November in because its so cute and funny. She grabbed her book and crawled up on Chase's chair and pretended she was reading. It was so cute.

Then, she started getting really whiny and less active. She would just lay on the floor and rub her head against the rug. i took her temperature and gave her some medicine and sent her to bed. The next day she was the same and I was getting worried so i made an appointment and took her to town. Turns out she had a double ear infection and a throat infection. My poor baby girl. She was put on antibiotics. Chase came home the next day so that was good.

So sick, she just wanted to be held and sleep. Which is nice don't get me wrong but sad to watch my active little baby so blah.

Story time with Dad.

Then, after we thought things were getting better and she was doing good, I noticed some dry patches on her belly. Didn't act on it right away, we just watched it for a while.

Turns out we didn't have to watch it for too long because it started to spread up her belly to her chest and then of course I got worried again. So we took her back to the doctor and turns out.......................................

She had an allergic reaction to penicillin!!

Ugh, so frustrating. So we changed her antibiotics and that day I swore we would not do antibiotics again. Just drops in the ear and humidifiers and any other natural remedies we come across. Too stressfull.

Not too long after she was back to my happy Baby Girl.

I guess we need to get over those humps so its kind of a good thing. Now I will know what to watch for.

Visit with Grandma Trish and Halloween

In October, a week after Thanksgiving, (Canadian Thanksgiving) I decided to take a drive with my baby girl down to visit my Mom! I planned the drive down so that we would leave in the evening and I would drive as far as I could and since it was coming on bedtime Z would get tired and sleep for most the night. Well as you fellow parents know, when u plan things it never goes as planned. It was fine until I was almost to Helena and it got dark and Z was still awake and she started crying and crying and would not stop. I would pull over and tuck her in and give her her binky and get her to calm down. I put a movie on for her and started driving again but then to keep herself awake she would pull her binky out and throw it. Over and over again until finally I just decided to ignor her so she would fall asleep. Nope. Screaming, and I am trying to drive and help her but it was dark and there were tons of deer so guess what happened?! I had a breakdown. I was crying, pulled over, bawling to Chase and my Dad on the phone and I couldn't get her to stop. So we stopped in Helena and got a hotel, not in the budget but necessary for my survival.
The next morning we were on the road and she did fine and we made it all in one piece. :)

Grandmas piano was the most fun toy

She couldn't get enough of it.

I got to see my cousins and their babies. It was so awesome!

Playing with her cousins!

Getting ready for bed with Grandma and Grandpa.

Bathtime at Grandmas!

We took a roadtrip on the weekend to Evanston to see Joni and it just so happened that JIm and Leslie were in utah so we stopped and saw them and had lunch!

Jim is weird...

Took a little time out to play before we continued our travels. We loved seeing Aunty Leslie and Tralee and Hunter!

We made it to Evanston and Joni and I went to visit my good friend Jake!

Aunty Joni was so happy to see Zayah... we were excited too!!

Aunt Donna was in town too!

She loved Grandmas luv sac

At Grandmas she started standing on her own more and more..

My big girl.. :)

Helping Grandma play her song...

The next week after we got back was Halloween so of course we had to prepare by carving our pumpkins!

She didn't carve, she just colored and she barely cared about doing that..

Cutest pumpkin in the patch if you ask me!!!

I bought Zayah's Halloween costume way back in August. It was the first week that I saw Halloween Costumes on the racks at stores and I couldn't resist.

And I also got Beverley a pumpkin outfit too... :)

Trick or Treating at Grandma and Grandpas

Then we went over and trick or treated at Grammy J's!

Going around at the Trunk or Treat!

It was a little cold but we had fun and she didn't cry once!

At the end of the night we sorted her loot!!!

A successful Halloween if you ask me!
