New 'Do'

I think they call this the 'New Mommy' haircut. The long stuff was in the way for nursing and in the way everytime I went to pick her up. It ended up just being in a ponytail everyday anways so, OFF WITH IT!!!

Zayah is 7 weeks now.... And slept through the whole night 2 nights ago for the first time...

6 Week Check Up

My Baby Girl...

1 Day Old

1 Week Old

2 Weeks Old

3 Weeks Old

4 Weeks Old

5 Weeks Old

6 Weeks Old!

I took Zayah in for her 6 week check up yesterday, March 15, 2011. Here are some things we heard from the Doctor about our little ZZ Top.... :)
  • 'She is so alert and awake... she is only 6 weeks she should just be eating and sleeping and pooping!'
  • 'Seriously, I can't believe this baby she is doing things a 3 month old baby does!'
  • 'She puts weight on her legs when you hold her up and she is holding up her head, she is flexing her arms when I lift her up by her hands... I can't believe it.'
  • 'She weighs 11 pounds, which is on track. And she is 23 and 1/4 inches long.' (She was 8 pounds and 21 inches when she was born.)
  • 'Her hematoma (sp?) is a lot smaller and I'm confident with a little more time it will be completely gone.' (she has that from her birth because they used the vacuum.)
  • He also checked her thrush she has had and said it is coming off of her tongue itself so we do not need another round of medicine.
  • 'I have NO concerns at all with her and I really can't believe she is only 6 weeks old. I don't need to see her again until she is 3 months!'

I was so happy when we left the Doctors Office. She really is so strong but I have never had a baby before so I didn't think she was doing anything out of the ordinary. She does hold her own head up, and she will stand when we hold her up by putting weight down on her legs. Chase and I always comment on how strong she is but it was nice to hear the Doctor say those things. Zayah has spit up maybe 4 times in her life, she mostly just gives me really big burps in between feedings and then she is fine. I love that she is not a barfy baby. She is focusing on things and smiling so much and even gave the Doctor a smile while we were there. She has the most hilarious 'poop' face, I will have to put the picture up that I caught, so funny. We can't get enough of her so I am sorry if you are sick of hearing about her, but I can't help it!! She's our perfect little girl!

Blessing

We blessed Zayah Mae on February 27, 2011 (which happens to also be my Moms birthday)
She looked so cute and was so good through the blessing. Her Grandpas told me she opened her eyes and looked around but just stayed still and watched.

Zayah got her blessing dress from her Grandma Trish. My Grandma Callister also sent one to us that we decided we will use if we have another girl.

A little grin. :)

Nanny and Papa Bevans with their 11 grandchildren. They will have numbers 12 and 13 by this summer.
The day we blessed Zayah was also the same day that Chase's parents had their farewell in church. They left to serve a mission in the Phillippines the next day, Monday Feb. 28th at 5:30am. We stayed with them all Sunday and went to see them be set apart that night at 7:00pm. I bawled my eyes out. Call it hormones from having a baby but mostly I'm just a baby myself. His Dad and Mom both hugged me and whispered in my ear about how glad they were that I married their son and how blessed they are to have me in their family and I lost it. They said more things, but those things are just for me. I love those two so much, seriously. I TOTALLY lucked out in the 'in-law' department.
Denise is so cool. She is never pushy or overbearing. She doesn't care if things get cleaned right away or if things are perfect, she would rather be with her family and soak up every minute of them before they leave.
Dee is the kindest Dad and husband ever. He always tells his kids and their spouses how much he loves them, how proud he is of them. He takes beautiful pictures and shares them with his family. He is going to be an amazing missionary. Some of my favorite moments with Chase's family is when we all sit down and listen to some words of wisdom from Dee. He captivates you when he talks or reads something. And I, of course, cry everytime.
These two will be amazing missionaries and we already miss them so much. Zayah gets to hear their voice every night on a recordable story book so she will know her Nanny and Papa when they get home.
Big things happening here.

A month already....

Zayah Mae is a month old already.... a month?

Some things about our little girl

- Zayah has been trying to hold her head up ever since she was a week old and she does it now on a regular basis. She will hold it up when she is being burped or when you lay her on your chest. She likes to look up at you, which I love.

- She has her eyes open a lot. She looks around at things and smiles at things.

- I think she is starting to see us and objects better because her little smile comes out a lot. She smiled at her mobile on her swing, she smiled when I talk to her and try to get her to focus on me, and she smiles sometimes just sitting by herself staring at the couch. We LOVE when it happens.

- She poops a lot. She has pooped while I have been changing her diaper twice and peed while I was changing her diaper too. She did pee on her Daddy once too which was hilarious. I just laugh when it happens because it actually is kind of funny.

- She is sleeping SOOOO well! A bad night for us is her waking up every 3 hours to eat. I can usually feed her for the last time at around 11:30 or 12 and then i don't get up with her again until 5:30 at the earliest. One day it was 8:15, sometimes its 6:30. Then I will feed her again and she goes back to bed for another 3 or 4 hours. We usually don't get out of bed until around 10:00am or 10:30. Love that.

- Chase got her to giggle the other day. three times in a row, we laughed and laughed.

- Zayah was blessed on February 27, 2010 by her Grandpa Ross with her Papa Bevans, Uncles, Great Uncles, and Great Grandpa standing in her circle. She looked beautiful.

- She talks a lot. She is always sighing, or cooing, or grunting, or fussing... just as long as she can hear her own voice.

- She has started using her legs and pushes against us with them. She really is a strong baby.

- She is getting chubby, which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE!! Kind of makes me sad she is getting big but I can't resist chubby cheeks.

Zayah Mae, Mama can't even remember what life was like without you. Your Dad and I love you more than anything.
